"Being Good Enough - because you MATTER!"

If you suffer with depression, feelings of being unworthy and feel there is just no way out, I will let you in on a big secret, there is a way out.

I know that when you are depressed the last thing you want to hear from anyone is, 'Just be positive'. When you are feeling that low, the word positive can taste like poison in your throat and the fact that if it were that simple for you, you would be positive already, right!

“Being Good Enough - because you Matter”. How much energy and time have you spent on the question “Am I good enough”? Do I really matter? - Am I good enough for that person? - Am I good enough for that job? - Am I good enough to teach that? - Am I good enough for that house? - Am I good enough for that car? - Am I good enough to wear those clothes? - Am I good enough to get that part? - Am I good enough to be loved? - Who really cares? Do I really matter?

Not feeling good enough is one of the main causes of depression. Teaching ourselves how to turn those beliefs around into knowing that you are good enough, will help you lead a happier and more empowering life. We were all born good enough. The only thing that gets in the way of our own being good enough, is ourselves. Our beliefs, fears and the way we think determine how we will lead our life. We all have our own personal strengths and weaknesses though depending on the beliefs that we have of ourselves, will influence the paths we will take. As soon as we are thinking of trying something different or to change a certain aspect of our life, this question can come into our minds, “Am I good enough”. Its that big voice in the back of our mind saying your not good enough to do that, forget it, just stay right where you are, where its comfortable. When we have low self-confidence, fear of the unknown raises its ugly head and can stop and can make you freeze in your tracks. This is a very disempowering way of feeling and being, and leads to yourself having no control over your life. When we move out of our comfort zone, and try something new, we gain self-confidence and resilience.

Statistics say 1 in 4 females and 1 in 6 males in Australia have depression. These statistics are massive which is why October is “Mental Health Awareness Month”. If you have depression, anxiety or know of someone that has, there are many different help centres open and online facilities where people are there to offer their support and can help you, family or your friends. Taking that first step can bring up those feelings of fear and want to make you stay inside that comfort zone, though by taking that first step you are saying to yourself “That I am good Enough and I Matter”.
